Why is HABODE so different?
The ridged steel sub-frame not only ensures unsurpassed strength and exact dimensions but a structure that can withstand almost everything that man and nature can throw at it.
HABODE was designed in New Zealand to suit the unique Australasian conditions. From extreme heat, torrential downpours and extreme winds, HABODE buildings meet or surpass all New Zealand building codes.
The other benefit of HABODE is the ability to reach difficult or remote sites. HABODE really can make your home anywhere.
The result is a unique home and a beautifully designed living space.
- You'll have 80 square metres to relax in - generous living and kitchen areas, 2 or 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry.
- Your HABODE comes with all its services hard-wired into the structure, engineered for complete reliability.
- HABODE has been thoroughly tested. There's none of the guesswork or improvisation that conventional house construction more often requires.
- The materials are low-maintenance and long-lasting. HABODE has been rated for a grade five storm (cyclone) by New Zealand engineers and should last more than a lifetime*.
- It has been manufactured to meet the New Zealand building code and in many areas surpasses the code. All that is required are the appropriate consents.
Environmental Sustainability
Throughout the development of the HABODE, designer/inventor Rod Gibson has endeavoured to incorporate the highest principles of environmental sustainability by integrating the following into these buildings:
- Thermally broken window/wall system
- Double glazing
- Solar power and waste heating capabilities in all units
- Significant levels of thermal/sound insulation in all units
- Use of Corten steel with international freight container grade paint specification in lieu of galvanised mild steel to ensure increased longevity of units
- Use of treated ply materials in all instances in lieu of solid timber to reduce attack from pests
- Roof rainwater runoff capturing capabilities in all units
- Water saver cistern, tap and shower capabilities in all units
- Variable 2.4m plus ceiling heights in all units
- Low energy fluorescent downlights throughout all units
- On-demand instantaneous water heating systems
